Take Charge Of Your Health By Eliminating The Wrong Environment!
Have you ever had the experience of a family member, friend or co-worker being jealous of your health and fitness goals or progress?
Has there been an attempt to sabotage your progress in different ways? Maybe by bringing you a donut, or a slice of cake after an intense workout? Yes! This exact situation is extremely popular with a great percentage of people. Sometimes a lack of support from the people closest to you may be a great factor in the derailment of sticking to one’s program. Like everything else that we engage in through out life, it is good to find a partner or even partners to embark on your journey to optimal health with. Although some of us may feel like we can do it alone, the lack of social support may produce a shorter and less successful journey than if the people around you were also involved in what you were doing.
One coping strategy to prevent a relapse in this situation is to find creative ways to involve the person or persons that may be having a negative impact on you. It is the act of creating a support system. When an individual has support from their peers, it is proven that they are most times more successful than the folks who may not have support form their loved ones. If even your loved ones aren’t interested in creating a healthier life, there are many other ways that you can connect with like-minded individuals such as yourself. The Internet has now created an even flatter playing field for meeting people who share the same interests. You can definitely refer to blogs, face book groups, and many smart phone applications pertaining to health and fitness are available also. When you find people that you are comfortable with to be a part of your support circle, you are encouraged to do more.
I even know of a few work places and offices that have implemented fun competitions amongst the staff where everyone took part in challenges and organized a weigh in on a certain day and the person that was able to reduce their waist line the most that week was positively rewarded. This gives the office a sense of healthy competition, as well as helps the staff to make healthier choices. It creates camaraderie that may even leak over into a more positive environment as far as the actual work front. Understandably, not every person is going to be interested in partaking, but it is all about creating a team of people who are driven and can support each other’s purpose. This positive purpose might eventually infect the Debbie Downer of the office. Positivity is always worth a try.
Now whether your support circle includes your friends, family or social media contacts one of the first things you do is to understand everyone’s goals. This helps because although you are looking for support, you can attempt to be a great supporter in the time when your support circle really needs it. This is as simple as creating positive competitions amongst each other, or having your friends attend the same workout class that you are in and simple challenges are also welcomed. Talking about problems you may both be familiar with and finding appropriate solutions together also helps a great deal. These activities encourage healthy hangouts, and ensure that everyone is involved in the process so that the environment continues to be a positive one. It also ensures that no one feels left out and everyone is able to motivate each other while staying fit and healthy. Creating a strong support circle is as important for successful achievements pertaining to health and fitness, as they are important also for life in general. It is essential to keep great people around you, for your own benefit as well as theirs. The greatest feeling however, is when you create a stronger bond with your loved ones, online support circle, or friends because of your health and fitness journeys. Nothing in this world is better than sharing a healthy, happy lifestyle with great people.
